Women's Tennis Defeats Oral Roberts

callThe University of Minnesota women's tennis team earned its third win of the season in a 4-0 defeat over Oral Roberts. The Gophers are now 3-3 on the season. Minnesota led the match 4-0, which was called by both teams as the decision.
Michaela Havelkova and Valerie Vladea won the No. 1 doubles, 8-2 over Oral Roberts' Marlena Maciolek and Isabelle Sovoy. Brandi Watts and Jennifer Howard won 8-3 at the No. 2 doubles, while Andrea Rose and Kelly Perry teammed together at No. 3 doubles for an 8-2 win.
Havelkova won the No. 1 singles over Maciolek, 6-4, 6-1. Vladea won the No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-5, while Howard won the No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3. Rose was up 1-0 when the match had reached the 4-0 decision.
The Golden Gophers play Oklahoma noon, Feb. 10, 2002. Next home action for the Gophers is Feb. 15 when they play host to DePaul.
