Maryland Defeats Women's Tennis Team

Minnesota's best chance of avoiding the sweep came in the No. 1 singles when Valerie Vladea took the match to three sets. Vladea won the first set, 6-2, but fell in the next two, 6-2, 7-5.
Prior to the loss, Minnesota defeated Syracuse, 5-2, going 1-1 on the weekend.
Minnesota's next opponent will be Big Ten's Michigan State March 16. The Gophers will not host again until April 5 when Purdue comes to town.
