The Gophers started the doubles competition when Valerie Vladea and Michaela Havelkova won the No. 1 slot with an 8-6 win over UI's Michelle Webb and Cynthya Goulet. The duo now holds a 10-4 overall record at the top position, and 5-3 in league action. However, the Gophers fell 8-4 and 8-6 in the following two doubles matches, giving the point to Illinois.
Kelly Perry won the No. 4 singles for Minnesota, winning back-to-back conference wins. Perry aided the Gophers last weekend in the 4-3 win over Indiana.
Minnesota continues the road action again tomorrow as the Gophers face No. 18 Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. The Wildcats have not lost a conference game this season, standing at 6-0.
