Marten Earns All-Big Ten Softball Honors

h For the second consecutive year, Minnesota's Piper Marten has earned third team All-Big Ten Conference accolades. The pitcher from Farmington, N.M., led the conference in strikeouts, while breaking her own school record, with 281. The sophomore also led the conference with 42 appearances.
Marten was second in the league with four saves, a .156 opponent batting average, 217.1 innings pitched and wins, posting a 22-12 record. Marten threw four no-hitters during the season, including a perfect game, while posting a 1.06 earned run average.
Ohio State's Wendy Allen was named the Player of the Year, while Michigan's Marissa Young garnered Pitcher of the Year. Nicole Motycka of Michigan was named Freshman of the Year, while Linda Kalafatis led Ohio State to a second place regular season finish to earn conference Coach of the Year honors.
