Stokes was a volunteer coach at Florida A&M in the 2002 season. While a volunteer coach, FAMU went 30-30 and played in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship title game in 2002.
Stokes, a Tuttle, Okla., native, played at Florida State from the fall of 1997 to 2001. In her senior season alone, Stokes held a 0.63 earned run average and was in the rotation when FSU had the best ERA in Division I softball. Stokes allowed 16 earned runs in 177 innings pitched as a senior. In 2001, FSU went 58-12 overall and went to the NCAA Regionals before falling just short of going to the College Softball World Series in the loss to California.
As a senior, Stokes earned the NFCA Outstanding Performer Award. She was a first team all-region selection in 2001 as well as an All- Region second team honoree in her rookie season. In her four years at FSU, Stokes was named an ACC/SASA Pitcher or Player of the Week 11 times.
Stokes is projected to earn a bachelor of arts degree this August in social science education from Florida State.
