Golden Gophers Participate at 2002 USA Women's Hockey Festival

Curtin led the team and the WCHA in points (48), assists (35), points by a defender and power-play points (22). As a defender, was named the WCHA Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, an All-WCHA first team selection and the WCHA Final Five most valuable player. Along with conference accloades, Curtin was a 2002 Patty Kazmaier finalist, an award given to the most outstanding Division I women's hockey player.
Brodt will return to the Golden Gopher squad after a two-year hiatus. Brodt was named the 2000 WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, assisting the Gophers to a national championship. In her two years with the Gophers, Brodt had 95 points in 62 games played.
The 2001-02 season was Slominski's final year as a member of the Maroon and Gold. Slominski finished her career with a 161 points in 146 games played. Slominski ranks third in career points behind Nadine Muzerall and Ambria Thomas. In her final year, Slominski led the team with eight power-play goals and had three of her six career hat tricks.
Kennedy was a member of the 2002 U.S. Olympic Team, after her senior season in 2001. Like Curtin, Kennedy was the WCHA Player and Defensive Player of the Year. Kennedy was the first Golden Gopher to be named one of three finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award. Kennedy was also the first Gopher to have first-team All-American honors. She finished her Gopher career with 112 points.
