Stromme Named Golden Gopher Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

While at UMD, Stromme aided the Bulldogs to a 370-159 record and a .703 winning percentage. After 17 seasons, Stromme assisted the Bulldogs to 10 conference championships and won the championship tournament twice. David, the younger brother of the Bulldogs' head coach Karen Stromme, coached UMD in eight NAIA tournaments and five NCAA II Regional tournaments. Stromme coached five NAIA All-Americans, one Kodak All-American and seven Academic All-Americans.
Stromme was an assistant coach on the UMD football team, serving as the wide receivers coach and assisted the offensive coordinator from 1993-98. Stromme was also a physical education instructor at UMD where he taught tennis, golf and weight training from 1991-98.
Stromme was a three-year basketball letterwinner at St. Olaf College where he graduated in 1983 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Stromme earned his bachelor of applied science degree in physical education and coaching certification in 1989 from Minnesota-Duluth. He then completed his master's degree at UMD in the spring of 1999. Stromme owned three letters in basketball and two letters in both football and baseball at Duluth East High School.
