Minnesota Soccer Falls at Indiana, 1-0

The University of Minnesota women's soccer team lost its second consecutive match by a 1-0 score today, this time to Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. The Golden Gophers (5-3-0 overall, 0-2 Big Ten) fell to Purdue by a 1-0 score in Friday evening's Big Ten opener.
Indiana (4-2-1, 1-0-1 Big Ten) tallied the game-winner in the 35th minute as Kate Kastle chipped the ball over Minnesota goalkeeper Karli Kopietz from 10 yards out. Lisa Techlenburg was credited with the lone assist.
The Golden Gophers were out-shot in the match 10-8, including a 7-6 shots-on-goal advantage for IU. Minnesota and Indiana played the typical, foul-laden Big Ten match with the teams combining for 38 fouls, 23 of which going to the Hoosiers. IU also led in the corner kick department with a 4-3 edge.
Junior forward Rachael Roth was held without a point for the second- straight game for the first time this season. The native of Wayzata, Minn., had entered the weekend on a five-match point-scoring streak. Roth did, however, manage two shots on goal in the match vs. the Hoosiers.
Kopietz made six saves in the loss, dropping her record to 5-3-0 for the season. IU's Shaunna Daugherty picked up the shutout win for the Hoosiers.
Minnesota returns home next weekend to continue Big Ten play against Michigan State on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m., aand against Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. All Golden Gopher home soccer matches are at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in St. Paul, Minn.
