Minot State senior Brad Tighe covered the 8-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 51.1 seconds, over 26 seconds a head of the rest of the field. Hamline senior Tom Kreger placed second in 25:17.6.
"It was fun and a good race," said Tighe on his Griak victory. "I think I went out a little too hard. I?m not used to running on rolling hills. It caught up to me on the fourth mile but it was a good race. It was a great day."
The Eagles' top finisher was senior Dan Sutton, who placed ninth in 25:54.6. Wisconsin-LaCrosse won last year's Griak Maroon title, then went on to capture the NCAA Division III crown.
