--> The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced that Krissy Wendell has been named the WCHA Player of the Week for her performance against Ohio State this past weekend. Wendell scored four goals Friday night, helping the No. 1 Gopher women' hockey team to a 6-3 win over the Buckeyes. She followed her Friday night performance with a goal and assist for six points during the series.

Wendell recorded her first career hat trick for the Maroon and Gold against OSU. She added her fourth goal at 12:16 of the third period to become the first Golden Gopher to score four goals in a game since former Gopher Nadine Muzerall did so in January of 2000. Wendell, a member of the 2002 U.S. Olympic Team, scored four goals on five shots for a .667 percent shooting percentage. Of her four goals, one was on the power play, another a short-handed tally, followed by the game-winning goal.

In Saturday's 7-0 win, Wendell's lone goal was a power play, game-winning goal. Her single assist came on Becky Wacker's first career goal. With her six-point performance, Wendell leads the team in points (six), goals (five), game-winning goals (two), power-play goals (two) and is tied for the lead in short-handed goals (one).

The Golden Gophers head to Madison, Wis., Oct. 25-26 to take on the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers. Both games are slated for a 2:05 p.m. start at the Kohl Center.
