aThe No. 1 University of Minnesota women's hockey team swept the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers after a 3-1 win Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis. The Gophers won the previous contest by a score of 3-0. Horak stopped 25 Badger shots on goal for her fourth win of the season. The Golden Gophers remain undefeated, posting a 4- 0-0 overall record and a 4-0-0 mark in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Golden Gophers scored the first goal of the contest at 16:18 in the first period. Jerilyn Glenn passed the puck to Chelsey Brodt, who fired a slap shot just inside the blue line. The tally was her first goal and point of the 2003-04 season, her second goal as a Golden Gopher.

The Maroon and Gold tacked on their fourth power-play goal of the series when Krissy Wendell lit the lamp at 14:42 of the second period. Natalie Darwitz started the play passing it to Kelly Stephens, who was in front of the net. Stephens then fired a cross pass to Wendell, netting her third third power-play goal of the season. It was one of two power-play shots of the contest.

The Badgers got on the board for the first time in the series at 17:43 of the third stanza when Sara Bauer scored her first goal of the season. However, the Gophers added an insurance goal at 19:55 when La Toya Clarke scored an empty-net goal, while Darwitz and Stephens were credited with the assists.

With the Wisconsin goal, Horak's scoreless streak came to an end. Horak and the Gophers did not allow a goal in 192 minutes and 44 seconds. On the weekend, Horak stopped 52 shots on goal.

Right before Minnesota's first goal, senior co-captain Kelsey Bills went down with a leg injury and missed the remainder of the game. She went to the hospital for x-rays and her playing status has yet to be determined.

The Gophers will face their third conference opponent in three weeks when St. Cloud State heads to Ridder Arena. The Gophers and the Huskies will start the series at 4:05 p.m., Friday, followed by a 2:05 p.m. start Saturday.
