Golden Gopher Women's Tennis Defeats Tennessee-Chattanooga 6-1

The University of Minnesota Women's Tennis Team improved to 8-3 on the season with a 6-1 win at Tennessee-Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Gophers claimed five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn the victory.

Minnesota claimed the doubles point as Amy Thomas and Valerie Vladea defeated Catherine Allen and Cynthia Oulevay at No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Minnesota's Kandis Batiste and Brandi Watts claimed the other victory, 9-7, over Bethany Everett and Lauren Snipes.

Junior Angela Buergis improved to 9-2 in the dual meet season with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Charlotte Goude at No. 1 singles. Vladea, Michaela Havelkova, Nischela Reddy and Watts also earned singles victories. Reddy defeated Everett at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

The Golden Gophers will continue their spring road trip with a match at Jacksonville State on Monday afternoon.
