Whalen Named to Associated Press All-America Second Team

Whalen, a junior from Hutchinson, Minn., is only one of four members on the All-America teams from the Big Ten Conference. Penn State's Kelly Mazzante was a first-team selection, while Tanisha Wright was an honorable mention. Purdue's Shereka Wright was a third-team selection.
Whalen averaged 20.6 points, 6.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game to lead the Golden Gophers to the women's Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. Whalen scored 639 points this season, 1,731 points in her career. Her career total ranks fourth-highest in school history. Whalen will enter her senior season 366 shy of the school record. Shudlick holds the record with 2,097 points.
