A year after finishing last in the Big Ten with a 1-9 record and 6-16 mark overall, the Golden Gophers claimed their first-ever regular-season Big Ten Title with a 9-1 record. Minnesota also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000 and finished the year with an 18-7 record.
"Kristin's dedication to our student-athletes was crucial to our success this season," head coach Tyler Thomson said. "Her one-on-one work with our players paid off and she is very deserving of this prestigious award."
Sanderson is a former three-time All-ACC performer at Duke University where she helped lead the Blue Devils to four straight NCAA national semifinal matches. Sanderson, an Edina, Minn., native, graduated from Duke with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and history, with a certificate in secondary education.
The ITA national awards will be announced on May 18 in Gainesville, Fla.
