Mike Chism Added To Gopher Football Strength & Conditioning Staff

199Mike Chism has been hired as a strength & conditioning coach for the Golden Gopher football program. Chism returns to the University of Minnesota after previously working with Gopher football from 1997-98 as a graduate assistant coach. Chism joins Dwayne Chandler as the Gophers' strength and conditioning coaches for football.

Prior to his arrival at Minnesota, Chism served as the director of football operations for the Kentucky football program the past two seasons, working under head coach Guy Morriss. He spent two years in private business before taking over operations at Kentucky from 2001-02.

Chism was a member of Kentucky's football team from 1986-89, earning two varsity letters and the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award in 1989 as a defensive guard. He also served as a graduate assistant coach for the Wildcats from 1995-96.

From 1990-94, Chism was an assistant coach at Kutztown (Pa.) University, where he served as a defensive line coach from 1990-93 and was the offensive line coach in 1994. He was also the special teams and strength and conditioning coach for the Golden Bears during that time.

The LaGrange, Ky., native earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Kentucky in 1990 and received a master's degree in sports management from Kentucky in 1997.
