Women's Tennis Starts Strong at Cissie Leary Invitational

Angela Buergis and Nischela Reddy had solid showings on day one of the Cissie Leary Invitational today in Philadelphia, Pa. Buergis went 1-0 in singles, and coupled with Reddy to go 2-0 in doubles action. Buergis and Reddy are the lone Golden Gophers competing in the tournament at the University of Pennsylvania.

Buergis, seeded fifht in the main singles draw, defeated Harvard's Cindy Chu in the second round. Buergis will face Penn's Raluca Ciochina in the third round tomorrow. Buergis and Reddy opened doubles play with an 8-2 win over Old Dominion's Kerner and Herrmann, before downing Harvard's Mukunden and Anderson, 8-2.

The 7th Annual Cissie Leary Invitational runs through Sunday, Sept. 28, in Philadelphia.
