Minnesota will continue longest stretch of conference road matches on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. when it travels to Northwestern. The Golden Gophers will then travel to Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Those two road matches are the second part of a four-match road trip that Minnesota started last week. The Golden Gophers enter the week ranked No. 2, are 20-2 overall and 9-1 in Big Ten play. The 9-1 conference record puts Minnesota in a tie with Ohio State for first place in the Big Ten. The Wildcats enter the week tied for eighth in the Big Ten at 2-8, and are 7-13 overall. Wisconsin is fourth in the Big Ten with a record of 7-3, and has a 13-5 overall record coming into the week. The Golden Gophers are currently at the midpoint of the Big Ten season. Minnesota enters the week having won 24 of its last 28 Big Ten contests dating back to Sept. 27, 2003.

Minnesota is out to a 9-1 Big Ten start for the third time in school history. All of the three 9-1 starts have come under current head coach Mike Hebert. The Golden Gophers started 9-1 in 2000, 2002 and now this season. In 2002, Minnesota went 16-1 before dropping two of its last three matches to finish at 17-3. The Golden Gophers also started 10-1 in 2000 on their way to finishing 17-3.
