--> University of Minnesota men's basketball player Adam Boone underwent successful surgery today to repair a torn biceps tendon in his right arm. Boone, a fifth-year senior from Minneapolis, Minn., is expected to miss a minimum of three months and could miss the entire 2004-05 season. Boone was injured during preseason workouts.

"Right now our concern is for Adam's health and we hope he can make a full recovery," head coach Dan Monson said. "As a team and as a family, we'll help Adam get through this. It's definitely a setback for our team, but the guys we have here will continue to work hard and persevere."

Boone started 27 games at point guard last season for the Gophers and was the leading returning scorer coming into this season. Boone led the team with 123 assists in 03-04, the 10th-best season mark in Gopher history. He shared the team lead in steals with 31 and his assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.86 was the seventh-best in the Big Ten last season.

"I'm obviously disappointed, but everyone has to deal with adversity in their life," Boone said. "I have confidence in my teammates that they will move forward and I'll be with them and help them any way I can all season long."
