Volleyball Hosts Wisconsin and Northwestern

Minnesota will return home to host Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. and Northwestern on Saturday Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers enter the week ranked No. 3 with a 14-2 overall record and are 3-1 in the Big Ten after falling at No. 16 Ohio State and winning at No. 4 Penn State. Wisconsin enters the week with an 8-4 overall record and a 2-2 Big Ten record, after going 2-0 this past week with a win at home against No. 19 Illinois and Northwestern. The Wildcats are 5-9 overall and 0-4 in Big Ten play. Northwestern lost a pair of three-game matches to Wisconsin and Illinois. The Minnesota-Wisconsin match will be telecast live on Fox Sports Net North. Last season, Minnesota split with Northwestern winning at home and losing on the road. The Golden Gophers swept Wisconsin last season.
Minnesota is tied for first in the nation in matches played against ranked opposition and matches won against ranked opposition. The Golden Gophers are tied with Nebraska for most victories against ranked opponents with five. Minnesota is 5-2, having played seven ranked teams this season. The Golden Gophers are tied with Arizona and California for most matches against ranked opponents. Minnesota has victories against No. 11 Colorado State, No. 15 Kansas State, No. 4 Florida, No. 20 Loyola Marymount and No. 4 Penn State. The Golden Gophers have lost to No. 1 USC and No. 16 Ohio State.
