Lentsch Named to Great Lakes Region All-Freshman Team

sUniversity of Minnesota women's soccer player Haley Lentsch was named to the Great Lakes Region All-Freshman team after a stellar rookie season. Lentsch was one of four forwards selected to the team.

A Big Ten All-Freshman selection, the Woodbury, Minn., native led all first-year league players in scoring with 19 points, seven more than her closest competitor. Lentsch led the team in scoring with seven goals and five assists in 18 games. In the process, she joined Jennifer Walek as the only freshmen in school history to lead the team in scoring. Walek paced Minnesota in scoring in the program's inaugural season in 1993.

Lentsch finished second in the Big Ten with four assists in 10 conference games. She ranked 10th in points and goals among league players in all games.

She is joined up front on the team by Jessica Bayne of Illinois, Jamie Craft of Louisville and Tiffany Horvath of Ohio. Midfielders included Jen Buczkowski of Notre Dame, Kara Kabellis of Wisconsin, Kim Lorenzen of Notre Dame and Lisa-Marie Woods of Oakland.

Defenders included Ginny Graczyk of UW-Milwaukee, Melissa Miller of Ohio State, Cat Panabaker of Oakland, Chantel Robinson of Western Michigan and Christie Shaner of Notre Dame.

The goalkeepers included Lauren Mason from Purdue and Megan Tuura from Michigan.
