Lindsay Whalen Breaks Hand, Out of Action 4-6 Weeks

metacarpaMinnesota's Lindsay Whalen, a two-time All-American and finalist for national player of the year honors, broke two metacarpal bones in her right hand in last night's game at Ohio State and is out 4-6 weeks. Her injury will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis.
Whalen is the Golden Gophers' all-time leading scorer with 2,186 career points, a total that ranks as the fifth best in Big Ten history. Whalen had started 106 consecutive games and 108 total. She is second in Minnesota's all-time career assists list with 541 and third in steals with 224.
The Gophers' next action is Sunday, at Illinois.
