Gophers Back in Top 10
Minnesota moved up three positions to No. 10 in this week's Associated Press Poll. Earlier this season Minnesota posted a school-record stretch of eight straight weeks (Dec. 1 - Jan. 19) in the top 10 for the Golden Gophers. In the ESPN/USA Today Poll, Minnesota is also ranked No. 10, up from No. 12 last week.
A Long, Impressive Streak Ends
The consecutive games started streak by Lindsay Whalen will be snapped Sunday after 106 straight games in the starting lineup. Whalen started the first two games of her freshman season then missed three games to a stomach ailment before starting her streak of consecutive starts. Overall, Whalen has started 108 career games.
Clash of the Big Ten Honorees
Sunday's game will feature a clash between last week's Co-Big Ten Players of the Week in Minnesota's Janel McCarville and Illinois junior guard Tiffanie Guthrie.
