Gopher Women's Track Places Ninth at Big Ten Championships

The University of Minnesota women's track & field team placed ninth at the Big Ten Women's Track & Field Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, this weekend. The Golden Gophers scored 38 points for ninth. Penn State won the team crown with a total of 115.
Minnesota scored 10 points in the second day of the championships after standing in third place with 28 points after day one. The Gophers' highest finish on Sunday came from sophomore Mollie Hupp in the 600-meter run in a time of 1 minute, 32.52 seconds.
Liz Woolford added a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.77 seconds. The Gophers' 4x400-meter relay also placed with in a time of 3:46.41. Running in the relay for the Gophers were Melissa Steele, Kadian Douglas, Happ and Rachel Schutz.
Minnesota will compete in the Northern Iowa Qualifier on Saturday, March 6, its last preparation for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
