Women's Tennis Drops 4-3 Dual to Boise State

play,The 40th-ranked University of Minnesota women's tennis team fell to No. 61 Boise State, 4-3, tonight in Eugene, Ore., to stay winless on the season at 0-3. The Golden Gophers went 3-3 in singles play, but gained only one win in doubles in a losing effort to the Broncos.

Minnesota's lone doubles win came at No. 1 as Angela Buergis and Nischela Reddy earned their first victory of the season with an 8-3 win over Alissa Ayling and Megan Biorkman.

In singles play, the Golden Gophers gained wins at No. 1, 3 and 4, but it was not enough to lift UM to the dual win. Buergis remained undefeated in the spring at 3-0 with a 7-5, 4-1 (ret.) win over Jemima Hayward at No. 1 singles. At No. 3, Ida Malmberg moved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Biorkman. UM's final win of the night was provided by Lindsay Risebrough with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 victory over Carolina Pongratz. The win was Risebrough's first of her career in a dual match at Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers wrap up play tomorrow at 11 a.m., against host Oregon.
