Golden Gopher Women's Basketball Awaits NCAA Bid on Sunday

isThe No. 22 Golden Gopher women's basketball team is expected to receive their third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth as the 64-team field for the 2004 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament is announced nationally on ESPN on Sunday, March 14, at 4 p.m. Minnesota owns a record of 21-8.

Minnesota will be making its fourth trip to the `Big Dance." The Gophers advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time a year ago and to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in both 1994 and 2002.

Williams Arena will be the site for the 2004 First and Second Rounds, marking the first time Minnesota has hosted any round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on campus. Minnesota served as the host institution for the 1995 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four held in the Target Center.
