Minnesota will host the 20th edition of the Dairy Queen Classic on Mar. 5-7. The Golden Gophers will be joined by No. 14 Nebraska (5-1), No. 22 Florida State (9-4) and West Virginia (2-3). Last season was the first year that the tournament was named the Dairy Queen Classic. The Cornhuskers took a liking to the new name of the tournament and went 3-0 to claim the tournament title in 2003 over Minnesota, Wake Forest and Notre Dame. Florida State finished second in its last appearance in the Dairy Queen Classic in 1999. That year the Seminoles defeated the Golden Gophers 9-5. West Virginia will make its first appearance in the tournament. Florida State is coming off an appearance in the Super Regional in 2003, while Nebraska and Minnesota each advanced to the 2003 NCAA Regionals. The Dairy Queen Classic was one of six collegiate tournaments chose by Baseball America Magazine to spotlight in its 2004 preview issue.

Minnesota will have its game against No. 14 Nebraska broadcast live on Fox Sports Net North on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 6:35 p.m. Clay Matvich and J.T. Bruett will be the broadcast team. Minnesota will have at least one more game, to be named later, on Fox Sports Net North this season. Last year Minnesota defeated No. 14 Notre Dame 8-2 in the Dairy Queen Classic on Fox Sports Net North. The Golden Gopher also defeated Purdue 6-1 and fell 4-1 to Washington in their other television games in 2003.
