Women's Tennis Loses 6-1 to No. 52 Marshall

The Thundering Herd swept the doubles matches, but Buergis and partner Nischela Reddy nearly upset Marshall's eighth-ranked duo of Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh. The Golden Gophers hung close with the MU duo, but Johnson and Kroh prevailed, 8-6.
In singles play, Buergis played one of her best matches of the season, dispatching Johnson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. With the win, Buergis improved her spring record to 8-1. At No. 2, Reddy won the first set 6-3 vs. Alice Sukner, but dropped the next two sets, 6-2, 6- 4. At No. 3, Lindsay Risebrough had a match point in the super- tiebreaker, but fell to Kroh, 6-2, 3-6, (11-9).
The Maroon and Gold continues its three-week road trip next week with three duals in California, beginning Monday, March 15 at Sacramento State.
