Gophers Ranked 24th By Athlon Sports 2004 Football Magazine

IndiThe University of Minnesota is ranked 24th overall in the nation by Athlon Sports Football Magazine for the 2004 season. The Gophers also finished 24th overall in Athlon's final poll of 2003.
Individually, junior center Greg Eslinger has been named an Athlon's second team All-American and will join sophomore running back Laurence Maroney and senior offensive tackle Rian Melander as Athlon's first team All-Big Ten selections.
Junior tailback Marion Barber III, who will be featured on the Athlon's Big Ten Regional cover, and senior defensive end Darrell Reid were named second team All-Big Ten by the magazine. Maroney was also named to the Big Ten's second team as a kick returner, while Barber was named to the second team as a punt returner.
Gopher running backs are ranked first in the Big Ten, while the offensive line has been ranked second among conference teams
