Throwers Lead Women's Track at Tommie Twilight Meet

Nicole Kopari won the discus with a throw of 156-feet, 7 inches to pace the group.
Amy Netland finished second in the discus with a toss of 143-10. Liz Alabi grabbed second place in the hammer with a personal-best throw of 170-0, while Alean Frawley finished third in the shot put with an effort of 43-4 1/2.
After breaking the school record twice last week, Monica Stearns turned in a solid, but not record-breaking performance, in the pole vault. Stearns won the event clearing a height of 12-8 3/4
The top finish for the Gophers on the track was a third-place showing from freshman Jena Trask in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:01.45.
Minnesota rested its top runners in preparation for Saturday's Iowa Twilight Meet. The Gophers are the two-time defending champions in the event.
