recruThe University of Minnesota volleyball program has hired Jill Pearson as an assistant coach, according to announcement by head coach Mike Hebert on Thursday, June 10. Pearson will assume primary recruiting responsibilities from David Boos, who will be promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach and will assume the role of Technical Coordinator that Brian Heffernan recently vacated when he left to become Washington State's head coach.

"Jill is a perfect fit for our program at this point," said Hebert. "She is a proven winner at the highest level and she is a great communicator."

Pearson has been an off-campus camps founder and director since 2001. She directed and coached two-day volleyball camps throughout the Midwest, and worked in collaboration with high school coaches to offer exceptional camps for high school and junior teams.

In the spring of 2003, Pearson was the 16-under Iowa Rockets club coach. She has also worked as a Volleyball Camp Coach at the Husker's volleyball camp since 1998.

As a player, Pearson was a team-captain on the Nebraska Cornhuskers' national championship team in 2000 and played in two Final Fours with Nebraska. She was the Nebraska FCA student-athlete of the year in 2001. Pearson was also a two-time Academic All-Big XII honoree and was a nominee for the GTE Academic All-American team in 2000. She was also a four-year letterwinner for the Cornhuskers from 1997-2000.

She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in English from Nebraska in 2001, and got her Master's in teaching and English education in 2004 from Iowa. Pearson was also inducted as a member of the Iowa Girls High School Hall of Fame in 2003.

"I am really excited to get to work with this coaching staff and the players," said Pearson. "I am looking forward to being a part of this teams continued growth and success. I am very excited to be joining the coaching staff for a Minnesota program that has a great reputation throughout the nation."
