2004-05 Golden Gopher Men's Basketball Schedule Announced

Minnesota will begin regular season play at home vs. Lipscomb on Sunday, Nov. 21 on FSN North. The Golden Gophers will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Anchorage, Alaska at the Great Alaska Shootout. The field includes 2004 NCAA tournament teams Alabama, Washington, Utah and perennial power Oklahoma. Minnesota opens bracket play on Wednesday, Nov. 24 vs. Furman. Minnesota will either face Alaska Anchorage or Alabama in the next round on Friday, Nov. 26.
After their return from the 49th state, the Gophers play host to Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Minnesota holds a 3-2 record in the Challenge, 2-0 at Williams Arena. Minnesota's only nonconference road game will be at Nebraska on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The Gophers then return home for an eight- game homestand which extends through the Christmas holidays and the beginning of the Big Ten season.
Minnesota begins the Big Ten slate at home vs. Penn State on Jan. 8 and plays host to Purdue on Jan. 12. Minnesota will play Illinois and Michigan only once on the road in Champaign and Ann Arbor. The Gophers will not have to travel to Evanston or Madison, but will host Northwestern and Wisconsin at Williams Arena. The Big Ten Tournament returns to Chicago this season from Mar. 10-13 at the United Center.
