Women's Tennis Finishes Play at 2004 UNLV Invitational

JaneThe University of Minnesota women's tennis team finished play at the 2004 UNLV Invitational today in Las Vegas, Nev., going 3-6 in consolation singles matches. Junior Nischela Reddy, and freshmen Jane Anderson and Marina Bugaenco each went 2-1 in singles play at the tournament.

The UNLV Invitational included LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Hawaii and UNLV. The three-round tournament featured six singles flights and six doubles flights.

In singles flight one, Reddy finished the tournament with a 6-3, 4- 6, 6-3 victory over Marina Chiarelli of LSU. For the season, Reddy is now 5-2 in singles matches. In flight three, Anderson downed Bethany Griffin of Oklahoma, 6-2, 6-2, to move her singles record this fall to 6-1. Also in flight three, Bugaenco, a freshman from Moldova, overwhelmed Chloe Bihag of Hawaii, 6-3, 6-0.

Ida Malmberg, Lindsay Risebrough, Danielle Mousseau, Shelby Rohrer and Jenna Tellefsen each lost their final match of the UNLV Invite today.
