MBB: Vincent Grier Named First Team All-Big Ten

A junior college transfer from Dixie State Junior College, Grier was third in league games in scoring at 18.0 points per game. He averaged 37.5 minutes per game in conference action and played all 40 minutes in five games, including the last three. The native of Charlotte, N.C., led the league in steals in league games with 35, an average of 2.19, was 14th in rebounding (5.6 rpg), and tied for 13th in free throw percentage at .744 (90-121). Grier attempted and made more free throws than any other Big Ten player this season.
In addition to Grier, senior Jeff Hagen was named honorable mention by both the coaches and the media. The senior from Minnetonka, Minn., had his best season as a collegian, leading the conference in blocks at 2.12 per game. Hagen finished the Big Ten slate 19th in points at 11.3 ppg, sixth in rebounding at 7.4 rpg, 11th in field goal percentage at .508 and tied Grier from 14th in free throw percentage at .744. He is just the second Gopher to lead the league in blocks.
Freshman Dan Coleman was named one of five members of the Big Ten All- Freshman team awarded by the conference coaches. The native of Minneapolis, was third on the team in scoring at 8.6 points per game. Coleman is averaging 3.8 rebounds, shooting .432 from the field and .333 from three-point range.
