WHK: Blaine's Kim Hanlon Commits to the Gophers

seasoHead women's hockey coach Laura Halldorson has announced that Blaine, Minn., native, Kim Hanlon has been accepted to the University of Minnesota and will join the Golden Gophers in the 2005-06 season.

Hanlon was a five-year letterwinner for Blaine High School. In her tenure, Hanlon played in 86 games and had a 1.92 goals against average. She held a career record of 61-21-4, had 14 shutouts and a .914 percent save percentage. Hanlon was a member of the Northwest Suburban Conference championship team in 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2004-05. Hanlon was an all-state selection in 2004-05 and was an all-conference selection in 2002-03 and 2003-04. A captain her senior season, Hanlon was also a top five finalist for Let's Play Hockey's Senior Goaltender of the Year award. Along with competing for Blaine High School, Hanlon was also selected to the 17/18 Development Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. She was also recently selected to play in the Junior Festival and Senior Classic. During her time at Blaine, Hanlon played with Gopher members Jody Horak and Krista Johnson.

"Kim Hanlon has always wanted to be a Gopher and we're excited to add her to our program next fall," Halldorson said. "She's a successful student as well as a well-rounded athlete. It's great to get another goaltender out of the strong Blaine High School program."
