WTN: Michigan State Upends Minnesota 5-2

The Spartans opened the dual by winning the doubles point, taking victories at Nos. 1 and 2. The Maroon and Gold gained its lone win in doubles play at No. 3 as Marina Bugaenco and Danielle Mousseau downed Pascale Schnitzer and Karen Gustafson, 8-5.
Michigan State rolled to the team win with four victories in singles action, but the Golden Gophers picked up wins at Nos. 1 and 4. At No. 1, 89th-ranked Nischela Reddy improved to 8-5 this spring with a 7-6, 2-6, (11-9) triumph over 100th-ranked Keri Thompson. With the win, Reddy improved to 3-2 vs. ranked opponents this season. The Golden Gophers picked up their only other win at No. 4 as Shelley Brady retired after a 6-4 first- set loss to Minnesota's Jane Anderson.
The Maroon and Gold stays on the road this weekend, facing Michigan tomorrow at 11 a.m., in Ann Arbor, Mich.
