WTN: Nischela Reddy Named to 2005 All-Big Ten Team

200University of Minnesota women's tennis player Nischela Reddy (Hyderabad, India) has been named to the 2005 Women's Tennis All-Big Ten Team. The conference honor is the first for Reddy, a junior captain.

Currently ranked 112th in the nation, Reddy finished the 2004-05 season with a 16-15 overall record, an 11-9 mark in dual matches and a 5-5 Big Ten record. After playing at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles positions as a freshman and having a supbar sophomore season at No. 2, Reddy stepped up her game in 2004-05, playing all 20 of her dual matches at the No. 1 singles position. She went 6-5 vs. ranked opponents this season with wins over then-Nos. 26, 50, 98, 100, 101 and 120. In doubles matches, Reddy went 12-19 overall, 8-13 in dual matches and 2-8 in the Big Ten.

Minnesota has placed a player on the All-Big Ten Team in each of the last 12 seasons. The Golden Gophers finished the 2004-05 campaign with a 6-15 overall record and a 1-9 mark in the Big Ten.
