seThe Minnesota Golden Gophers had their first day of practice on Friday, August, 12. Minnesota started with its first practice of the season in the morning session, and scrimmaged in the afternoon session of the first day of practice.

"I thought we had a lot of energy on the first day of practice," said Minnesota Head Coach Mike Hebert. "That energy carried over to our first scrimmage in the afternoon. I thought our players did a good job approaching the first day and looked pretty good in the scrimmage."

Minnesota will have two-a-days throughout the rest of the summer until school begins.

The Golden Gophers will scrimmage the Alumni team in an exhibition match on Saturday, August 27 at 7 p.m., featuring current players against former Minnesota players.

Minnesota will open the season on Friday, Sept. 2 against North Dakota State in the Diet Coke Classic at 7:30 p.m.
