UW-LaCrosse Defends Griak Men’s Maroon Title
Wisconsin-LaCrosse defended its Griak Men’s Maroon Race title, posting two top-10 finishes in scoring 80 team points. The Eagles have also won four of the last five Griak Men’s Maroon titles (2001, ’02, ’04, ’05).
Wisconsin-Platteville sophomore Tyler Sigl edged South Dakota senior Tony Turgeon for Griak medalist honors. Sigl ran a time of 25 minutes, 13 seconds, winning by two seconds over Turgeon (25:15). Sigl, an NCAA Division III All-American, was the top freshmen at both the Griak (15th) and the NCAA Championships (14th) as a freshman a year ago.
“I feel great. This was a preview of nationals, I think. The race itself was great. I just wanted to get to the front of the pack, stay there and see how good I felt. We were pushing each other. I was waiting for him to be there, and I was able to make a kick. The weather was great today.”
Boomer Creger paced UW-LaCrosse with a fifth-place finish in a time of 25:33. Nate Hoffman added an eighth-place showing in 25:37.
