VB: Minnesota Travels to Kansas State Invitational

The Minnesota volleyball team begins a stretch of nine matches away from the Sports Pavilion when the Golden Gophers head to Manhattan, Kan. for the Kansas State Invitational. Minnesota will face Houston on Friday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. The Golden Gophers will then play Florida State on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. and Kansas State at 7:30 p.m. Minnesota is 3-1 after winning the Diet Coke Classic, and falling in five games to No. 1 Nebraska on Sept. 5. Houston enters the tournament with a 4-3 record, while Florida State is 1-2 on the season. Kansas State moved up to No. 24 this week, and enters the tournament with a 6-0 overall record.
Minnesota has picked up right where it left off last season defensively in its first four matches. The Golden Gophers are limiting opponents to a .081 hitting percentage in the first four matches off the season. Minnesota limited the three Diet Coke Classic opponents to a .014 hitting percentage. The Golden Gophers then limited a Nebraska team that came in hitting .324 to a .193 hitting percentage. Minnesota is also limiting its opponents to 11.93 kpg, and outblocking opposing teams 3.00 to 1.71.
