Golden Gophers Hire Kyle Singer as Assistant Coach

"He is a talented coach, with playing experience at the highest level, and I know he will bring great knowledge and energy to our program. It is wonderful to have one of the most successful goalkeepers ever from Minnesota, come back to his home state to help build a championship program.”
A native of Plymouth, Minn., Singer spent the last year as an assistant coach for the men's and women's soccer teams at Boston College. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach with both the men's and women's teams at Northeastern.
Singer earned his Master's Degree at Boston College. In 2002, he earned Big East Goalkeeper of the Year honors and helped the Eagles to a Big East championship and NCAA Tournament "Elite 8" appearance. Singer set the single-season record for wins by a goalie with 17.
In his one season at Boston College, Singer posted four shutouts, a 1.32 goals against average and a .793 save percentage. Singer earned All-Big East first team and NSCAA All- New England first team accolades.
Singer transferred to Boston College in 2002 after having played three years at the University of Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree while playing for the Cavaliers.
Singer was drafted by the New England Revolution in the third round (29th overall pick) of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft. He spent three seasons with the Revolution.
Prior to college, Singer was a member of the US Youth National Team Program. He competed in the U-17 World Cup in Egypt, where he posted a shutout victory against Austria. He was also named "Man of the Match" in friendly contests against Uruguay and Costa Rica.

"Coach Denney-Wright and her staff have done a tremendous job since taking over the program two years ago. I believe this program has the potential to be among the upper echelon of women's college soccer, and I am excited to play a part in helping it reach new heights. To have the chance to return to the state I grew up in and in some way help in that cause is a dream come true."
