STUDENT-ASSISTANT COACHES
All sports are permitted to have a “student-assistant coach” under NCAA Bylaw 11.01.4. To meet the rule, your student-assistant must be someone who:

NCAA Bylaw 11.7 deals with non-coaching staff that have sport specific responsibilities, such as the Director of Basketball or Football Operations, or the Program Coordinators for various other sports.
Non-coaching staff members may not perform any on-court or on-field duties that would be considered coaching, including:

STUDENT-ASSISTANT COACHES
All sports are permitted to have a “student-assistant coach” under NCAA Bylaw 11.01.4. To meet the rule, your student-assistant must be someone who:
- Has exhausted their eligibility and currently enrolled at the institution in which they participated in intercollegiate athletics.
- Is enrolled full-time, unless they are in the final semester of their bachelor’s or graduate degree program.
- Is participating as a coach within their five-year eligibility period.
- Is not receiving compensation for their participation other than the financial aid they would normally receive as a student-athlete.
The student-assistant coach may travel with the team and receive the same expenses as all other student-athletes on the trip. They may not be involved in off-campus recruiting activities or the scouting of opponents off-campus. They also cannot perform any recruiting coordination functions.
The Compliance Office should be notified of all student-assistant coaches for your sport via the Sport Personnel Form.'

- Film Study
- Analyzing Practice Sessions
- Throwing Batting Practice
- Passing Drills
- Scouting Opponents
Such staff members may participate in activities on and off the field that are not considered coaching, such as:
- Keeping Play Charts and Statistics
- Coordinating Complimentary Admissions
- Working with Schedules
- Splicing Game Film
- Officiating/Umpiring at Practices
- Managing Tape Exchange
