Kim Hanlon has been named the U.S. College Hockey Online National Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Wisconsin last weekend. It is her first national honor this year and the Golden Gophers' second honoree this season. Brittony Chartier was also named the USCHO Defensive Player of the Week honor earlier this season.

Hanlon held the No. 2 Badgers scoreless until 26 seconds remaining in the game in last Friday's 3-1 win. The Badgers did not score on the freshman goaltender until they created a six-on-four opportunity at the end of the game. She finished the contest with 25 saves in 26 opportunities. It was Hanlon’s eighth win of the season, now sitting at 8-2-0 in her rookie campaign. Hanlon holds an impressive 1.03 goals against average and a .949 save percentage. She currently leads the league in both the GAA and save percentage categories.

Hanlon and the rest of the Golden Gophers will compete in a home-and-home series this weekend against St. Cloud State. The No. 9 Huskies are in fourth place in the WCHA standings, while the Gophers sit at third place. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7:07 p.m. start at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Saturday's game is slated for a 4:07 p.m. start at Ridder Arena. Both games will have a live audio webcast on gophersports.com.
