McKenzie and Marvin Earn WCHA Weekly Awards

McKenzie, a sophomore forward, tallied seven points to lead the Gophers in a series sweep over No. 9 St. Cloud State last Friday and Saturday night. McKenzie scored the game- winning goal in Friday’s game and tallied two assists as the Gophers posted a 3-2 victory. One of her assists came on the goal that tied the game at 2-2. Friday’s goal marked the seventh game-winner of the season for McKenzie, who leads the nation in that category. She followed with a hat trick in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Huskies in Minneapolis. McKenzie scored three goals and assisted on Allie Sanchez's power-play, game-winning goal. It was the third hat trick of the season for McKenzie. On the season, McKenzie has 23 goals, which leads the WCHA.
Marvin, a freshman forward, tallied a goal and three assists in the Gophers’ sweep over SCSU last weekend. In Friday’s 3-2 win, Marvin had a hand in all of the scoring as she netted the Gophers’ first goal of the weekend on Friday and assisted on the Gophers’ other two goals. Saturday, she followed with an assist on McKenzie’s first goal of the game Saturday to tie the game at 1-1.
The Golden Gophers close out the regular season with a WCHA series against North Dakota, Feb. 25-26. Both games are slated for a 3:07 p.m. start at Ridder Arena. Sunday's game will recognize the five Gopher seniors.
