Minnesota associate head coach David Boos was named an assistant for the 2006 USA Women’s National A2 Team. Boos will be an assistant coach on the team for Florida Head Coach Mary Wise, and will serve as an assistant along with Kansas State Head Coach Susie Fritz.

The A2 Team serves as a secondary USA national team comprised of the top collegiate players from around the nation. Starting May 22, the A2 team will train in New Orleans until May 26. After that, they will take part in the U.S. Open Championships from May 27 -30 in New Orleans.

Boos, who just finished his second season as the Associate Head Coach for Minnesota and his fourth on the staff for the Golden Gophers, spent time working with the U.S. National Program in Colorado Springs, Colo. as a coaching intern in 2003.

This continues a trend of Minnesota coaches working with the U.S. National program. In 2003, current Minnesota Head Coach Mike Hebert was the head coach for the U.S. National Team at the Pan-Am Games in the Dominican Republic.

Minnesota also has had several players train with the U.S. National team in Lindsey Berg, Nicole Branagh, Stephanie Hagen and most recently Cassie Busse. Berg became the first women’s volleyball Olympian for Minnesota in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
