Minnesota Volleyball Team Remains No. 11 in CSTV/AVCA Poll

The Minnesota volleyball team remained at No. 11 in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Oct. 8. Minnesota received 876 points in this week’s poll.
Minnesota has been ranked in 80 of the last 87 polls dating back to 2002. The Golden Gophers have also ranked No. 12 or higher in 13 of the last 15 weeks dating back to the 2006 season.
This past week, Minnesota defeated Ohio State in five games and lost to No. 3 Penn State in three games in a pair of road matches. With the victory over Ohio State, the Golden Gophers tied the school-record for most consecutive Big Ten wins at 11. Minnesota won the final six conference matches of 2006, and the first five matches in 2007 before losing in three games to Penn State on Oct. 6.
Minnesota was among four Big Ten teams that were ranked in this week’s poll. Penn State is No. 3, Wisconsin sits at No. 9 and Michigan is No. 15. The Big Ten has four of the top 16 teams in the top 25 in this week’s poll.
The Golden Gophers will welcome No. 9 Wisconsin to the Sports Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will also face Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
