Coach Brewster Press Conference Highlights ? Wisconsin

“When I think about Wisconsin, I think about Barry Alvarez. Barry’s been a very good friend of mine for a long time, and how he put together and built that program... Barry just believe in his plan and he built that program into being one of the top programs in America, and he won three Rose Bowls.”
On the recruiting impact of doing well against Wisconsin, in terms of keeping Minnesotans home:
“It’s a very important game for us, recruiting-wise, in the state of Minnesota. As we said from day one, we want Minnesotans to stay home. I don’t want Minnesotans to feel like they’ve got to leave the state of Minnesota to go to Iowa or Wisconsin. I think this football game right here is a game in which we want to make a statement to our kids in Minnesota. There is an extremely strong commitment to keeping these kids at home, and just understanding what an important game this is to all Minnesotans. One thing I’ve learned since I’ve been here is that this game (MN vs. Wisc.) is a very important game. I was involved in the Texas-OU game, and this game takes on a lot of the same ramifications. That’s what really makes it fun. I’m just really excited to be a part of a tremendous football game.”
On Justin Kucek:
“Justin Kucek has worked unbelievably hard on his craft. We taught him a new punt this year, the flop punt, and he has worked an unbelievable amount of hours on mastering that punt. You guys are starting to see how deadly a weapon that is, and going into next season that is going to be an unbelievable asset for us.”
On this being the last game for the seniors:
“I’d like for all of the seniors to have a chance to play in this game, to have an impact in this game. They’re the guys I feel haven’t gotten their just reward this season. 16 wonderful kids that didn’t ask for this change to take place, but the change happened. They’ve been unbelievably resilient, they’ve competed each and every week in a very great manner. They’ve done a great job off the field... I want them to have an impact on this game against Wisconsin Saturday, and I want them to take tremendous pride in this program and where we’re going in the future.”
