Minnesota Shuts Out UNC-Greensboro 7-0

The University of Minnesota women's tennis team picked up its first win away from home this season with a 7-0 victory over UNC-Greensboro in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Golden Gophers (2-2) swept the six singles matches and went 2-1 in doubles play to post their first 7-0 team win since Feb. 2, 2005, vs. Cincinnati.
The Maroon and Gold opened the dual with doubles wins at Nos. 1 and 2 to take the early 1-0 lead. Danielle Mousseau and Lindsay Risebrough got Minnesota started at No. 2 with an 8-4 win over Courtney Akel and Whitney Miles. Ashley Schellhas and Alex Seaton then clinched the doubles point at No. 1 with their 8-6 victory over Arielle VonStrolley and Erica Zabkar.
The Golden Gophers cruised to the team win with six straight-set singles wins to complete the road trip with a 1-1 record. At No. 1, freshman Tijana Koprivica overwhelmed VonStrolley, 6-2, 6-0, while Schellhas cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Zabkar at No. 2. Also picking up singles victories were Mousseau at No. 3, Risebrough at No. 4, Mikayla Rogers at No. 5 and Alex Seaton at No. 6.
Minnesota returns to the Baseline Tennis Center next weekend to host Louisville on Friday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m., and Denver on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m.
