Gophers Compete Against UMD in Regular Season Finale

GOPHERS TRAVEL TO UMD FOR REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The No. 8 University of Minnesota women’s hockey team will close out the regular season with a road series against Minnesota Duluth, Feb. 17-18. Both games are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth, Minn.

MARVIN NAMED TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRELIMINARY ROSTER
Minnesota’s Gigi Marvin, along with former Gophers Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell were named to preliminary roster to represent USA Hockey at the 2007 World Championships in Winnipeg and Selkirk, Man., from April 3-10. Olympians Darwitz, Wendell and 11 others are locks for the world championships, while seven spots will be decided during a camp in Grand Forks, N.D., prior to the start of the tournament.

SECOND SEASON BEGINS NEXT WEEKEND
Minnesota will host the WCHA First Round next weekend at Ridder Arena. With one weekend remaining, Minnesota is third in the conference and would most likely face Bemidji State, who is sixth in the standings. Wisconsin holds the conference lead with 46 points, followed by UMD with 37 and Minnesota with 35. The top four teams in the conference host the bottom four teams in a best of three series. Game times will be at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (if needed).

MINNESOTA TO HOST FOURTH-STRAIGHT WCHA CHAMPIONSHIP
For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Minnesota will host the WCHA Championships, March 3-4 at Ridder Arena. The two-day championship will feature the top four teams in the conference after advancing from the WCHA First Round. Saturday’s semifinals will be at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., while the championship game will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 4. All Session Reserved Tickets are $20 each, General Admission is $18, and seniors and youth are $15.
