STORYLINES
• Minnesota lost its sixth consecutive Big Ten game on Wednesday, falling 71-59 at Indiana. Michigan was defeated 54-42 at Illinois on Wednesday.
• Michigan leads the all-time series 71-56 (not including vacated games). Michigan has won three of the last four match-ups. The Wolverines narrowly defeated the Gophers, 82-80, on Feb. 10 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
• The last Gophers win in the series was on March 9, 2006 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
• Junior Lawrence McKenzie continues to add to his Minnesota all-time records for three-pointers in a season (76) and three-point attempts in a season (195). McKenzie surpassed Michael Bauer’s 2002-03 totals of 71 three-pointers made and 190 attempts against Ohio State.
• McKenzie needs only 11 points to reach 1,000 career points in less than three seasons of collegiate play.
The Matchup
The Gophers have lost six straight Big Ten games dating to Feb. 3. Michigan has lost six of its last eight games after starting the season 11-1. The Wolverines have won one Big Ten road game this season, beating Northwestern 58-46 on Jan. 6.
SCOUTING the Wolverines
Senior Dion Harris and junior Courtney Sims carry the scoring load for Michigan, averaging 13.0 and 12.3 points, respectively. Harris also averages close to four assists per game to rank seventh in the conference. The Wolverines have struggled with three-pointers on both sides of the court this season, allowing opponents to hit .355 of their attempts to rank last in the Big Ten. Michigan is 10th in the conference in 3-point shooting percentage, hitting .345 of its shots. No Michigan player has started every game this season.
