Minnesota Volleyball To Host Spring Tournament on Mar. 31

The Minnesota volleyball team will begin its spring season, when it hosts a spring tournament at Williams Arena on Saturday, Mar. 31.

Admission will be free to all of the matches. This will be one of three opportunities to catch the Golden Gophers at home during the spring season. Minnesota will also face Iowa State at the Sports Pavilion on Apr. 7 and host a tournament on Apr. 21.

The first match of the tournament will feature Minnesota against Washington State at 8:45 a.m., while Florida and Notre Dame will face each other at 10 a.m. The Golden Gophers will face Notre Dame at 11:15 a.m., and then Florida and Washington will play the final match of the early session at 12:30 p.m.

Following a lunch break, Minnesota will face Florida at 2:15 p.m. Notre Dame and Washington State will face each other at 3:30 p.m. Florida and Notre Dame will play at 4:45 p.m., and Minnesota will then face Washington State in the final match of the day.

Minnesota and Florida each finished in the top 10 in last year’s final AVCA/CSTV Top 25 rankings, while Notre Dame qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Washington State is coached by former Golden Gopher associate head coach Brian Heffernan.

The Golden Gophers have 10 letterwinners from last year’s team that advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals on the spring roster, including Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten honoree Jessy Jones (Naperville, Ill.).
